For standard fittings and assemblies of stainless and acid proof steel tubes use hardened pre-installation bodies.
Check accuracy of cones regularly by means of a cone gauge.
Cut the tube square by means of a hacksaw. Do not use pipecutters!
De-burr internally and externally slightly, do not chamfer edges.
Fix pre-installation body according to tube size and series in a vice.
Lubricate pre-installation body, nut and ferrule (see below).
We recommend the following lubricants
Tube 150g sf-81 G 50 Tube 100g sf-81 G 100 Can 250g sf-81 G 250
Slip nut and ferrule over the tube end (arrow collar towards cut).
Turn union nut manually into the pre-installation stud. Press tube against stop inside of cone.
Using the sf trademark, on the nut, mark the tube.
Turn nut with spanner approx. 1 (one) full turn (the tube must remain stationary). The ferule will cut into the tube.
Loosen nut and check ferrule. The ferrule must be sitting flush with tube on whole circumference. An equi-distant collar must be visible in front of ferrule. The ferrule can turn but should not be able to move backwards or forwards.
Remark: Due to the tough tube material of AISI 316Ti there arises no comparable arching at the cutting edge e.g. as on steel tubes. Put pre-installed tube into fitting body. Approx. ¼ to ½ turn beyond point of clearly perceptible resistance. Using a second spanner to stop fitting from moving.
Please use spanner if possible having 15-fold length of the width of this tool.
